A friend of mine and this guy claim they are best friends - but they always hold hands, have private time together, and they can't stop talking about each other! I keep telling them to stop beating around the bush and just admit that they're going out, but they refuse.

What my question here is - can 'close' friends hold hands all the time, do stuff together constantly, and talk about each other frequently be still considered friends? Or are they going out?

All this beating around the bush from them is driving me crazy!

Thanks a lot! Tchau!

Sounds to me like they are dating. Friends do not hold hands all the time. I have many guy friends, and if I were to hold their hands, they'd be like "What the heck are you doing?". And if they can't stop talking about each other, then yes, I'd have to agree with you and say they are beating around the bush. Obviously they like each other, but for some reason seem to be too embarrassed to admit it to anyone else.

My best friend of 18 years is a guy. We are very close! People ask us all the time if we are together, but there has never been anything sexual between the two of us. We hold hands and spend a lot of time alone together, but we are not "going out".

I guess I am curious why you are so concerned. Is it really any of your business? So what if they announce to the world that they are together, what difference would it make? Leave them alone!! You really should let someone else's life bother you so much!

I have a very close guy friend also. However, we never hold hands. We do spend alot of time together. We go on vacation with each other, stay over each others apartment and we have no intimate feelings for each other at all. In fact, he has a g/friend and I'm engaged. We've been friends for 10 years. So, obviously I think friends of the opposite sex can be "just friends" but I would never hold hands with him!

Yes they going out because what kind of close friend hold hands and talk about each other all the time. Well if they don't want to tell you that they going out than leave it alone.

well it does seem in that way that theyre going out. if someone spends that much time with someone else and hold hands and talk to each other in that way then yeah i would say there going out. Maybe you should get them both alone and ask them if they are and confront them about it.

I guess it really doesn't matter what they want to call their relationship. If they are comfortable with "just friends" than that is what works for them, it really has no bearing what other people think. If you are asking because maybe you want to have a relationship with this fella, I would say that he is off-limits. Because they are more involved in activity than friends would be, maybe they are not comfortable with the BF/GF status. Either way just support them because they are your friends.

they could just be really good friends. they do like each other. i wouldn't hold hands with my friends just because and spend alone time. i think your right and they just don't want people to know that they are together.

Sounds like their more than friends to me. Some people though don't like putting labels on what they are. They feel it limits them. I say if they're happy, than let them go with it!
