You have to understand that cats don't adapt to new environments easily, they may be acting a bit weird for awhile, doing things they don't normally do. They will probably not eat much and sleep a bit less, or hide a bit more. Once they are adjusted they will develop a new routine for their new home. I really wouldn't worry much.

Good luck!

Cats are territorial. When you move into a new home, sadly it's not YOU they are concerned about. It's the home. SO they are trying to regain their territory in a new home. I'm not sure how much contact your male had with the stray, but if the stray sprayed (whether on your male or on the door area where it would waft through the screen), the female is smelling that and is now unsure of who's who. They WILL act strange for a few weeks, but give them time, and lots of attention and things will smoothe over. I have 5 cats, all males, and they all think they own this home. Too bad they can't pay the mortgage!!!

First, you just moved. Both cats have been thrown into an unknown environment where there are now roving stray cats claiming the territory outside. These cats are seen as threats to very life and limb, as well as territory. Your female is in fear of the situation, not of your male. Both are probably either depressed or irritable, and they may seem to not be quite as close for a bit. Reassure them by giving them lots of love, affection, and treats. You may want to set a humane live trap (most animal control agencies will rent them to you) to get the stray out of your yard. Othwise, reassure them that everything will be ok, and they'll be ok in a few weeks, sometimes months.

Yeah, she did not encounter him so ferocious before and is afraid that he will attack her. I had a similar situation from a few of my cat crew.

All of them seemed to be OK with each other until one day, four of the cats withered away from my tom - the 3rd oldest, but the biggest. He started showing signs of territory building - therefore becoming the dominant cat in the crew, and the others huddled against each other when he would appear.the slightest aggressive.

Cats can stress out from moving. Try to give the female a space like her favorite old space so she can get comfortable again. It just might take time.
