I wonder about thesame thing sometimes. It takes nothing away from you but rather give you more friends than enemies. And even a better name. If you are religious and desire anything good, you should learn to say hello, Its a sign of acknowlegdement, appreciation, love and care. Afterall, we are suppose to love our neighbours as ourselves.

People DO say hello. Not to everyone they meet, because that would consume an inordinate amount of time, but we do make eye contact and smile. If you want to hear people being friendly, stand in line at any cashier's counter, in a bank, a grocery store or whatever, and listen to people striking up a conversation with total strangers.
That sounds pretty friendly to me!

Probably for the same reason we are now afraid to send our kids to school without a ride with mom, dad, another family member, or adult friend. Too many screwballs and perverts who act on their impulses these days. It's sad I know, but try to remember that in another time and place, many of these people did answer nicely a friendly greeting. It can make your day if a sincere smile is given back.

well maybe u should start saying hello to people. If the hello back then they must be trying to be nice, but if they dont respond then they are just being mean and dont care about anything but themselfs.

I know what you mean! I have a tendency to smile an say hi to avarybody, usually they will just look at me like I'm strange. Also,I've noticed people don't say excuse me when they walk in front of you at a grocery store or wherever. I uess some people aren't taught that kinda stuff anymore!!

I think it's because it get kind of irritating sometimes. If someone looks at me when I am walking on the street or in the mall or were ever, I say hi. Sometimes I say hi to someone that is looking me dead in the eye and they say nothing back, just look away and keep walking like they are above it or some kind of robotic automaton, I find it to be really rude, and heaven forbid you try to say hi to a woman that looks at you, they think that you are trying to hit on you, when all your trying to do in be nice and friendly.
