I am planning on moving out of my mom's house in 3 months with my boyfriend. Lately when I think about it- I get this really sad feeling. To me, home is where my mom is and I dont know if I even want to anymore, but I am 21 and I know I'm going to have to move out sooner or later. How did you feel when you left home? - or if you havent yet are you scared to do it?

Wow, let me think if I can remember that far back, lol. Ahh to be 21 again.

Anyway, it should be both. If you weren't scared then I would be worried you didn't have a grip on reality. If you weren't excited then I would worry you were moving for the wrong reasons.

Have fun.

When I moved out it was fun. The good thing was I was only 15 minutes away. When I moved out of state I was scared but excited. It's not easy to move away from everything your used to but it helps you be a stronger person. Not to mention I talk to my mom more now then I did when I was at home.

Don't move out if you arent 100% ready. It isnt easy out in the real world. I left at 16 due to having a baby.

It should be both. My sister is 21 and about to get her own place. My parents are scared and she's excited. But she's not moving in with any "boyfriend". She'd get killed for that one with my parents since she's not married and shouldn't be fornicating. Good luck to you but, I wouldn't advise that you move in with him 'cause after he has tasted & having the goods whenever, what's the use buying it?

It's both scary and exciting.

It's leaving something familiar and comfortable, for the un-known.

It's starting a new chapter in your life. You'll always have the memories of your mom, and where grew up. Take them with you.

Enjoy your new life!
