Yes, you can. There have been hundreds of people who have met through the internet either on dating sites, sites such as myspace.com, and even gaming sites such as pogo.com. Actually, the practice of meeting partners on the internet is becoming more widely used and accepted. I met my husband on a personals site. Neither one of us is obese, antisocial, an ax murder, or a stalker. Sure you have to be careful, but you have to be careful at a bar, or even at your local singles Sunday School class. People can mask who they really are even in person. But if we hide in the corner of our room and never learn to trust our own instincts, we will never meet someone with whom to share our love.

Things have a funny way of working out and think there are some people in life that you are just supposed to meet, how you do that is irrelevant really.

You are just a likely to meet a nutter on the street as you are on the internet and I think the net gives you a good opportunity to find out a bit more about someone before you agree to meet them.

I met my husband on the internet through a dating site. I am disabled and found it hard to get out and meet people after my last marriage collapsed. I was wary at first but thankfully I went ahead and now am extremely happy, we have our first wedding anniversary in a few weeks! I am 52 as well, not young and impressionable. Good luck to you.

I personally think you can find true love anywhere as long as you are open, honest and willing to give it a chance. One of my best friends from high school met her husband on-line, they were married within 6 months and are more happy than ever today. "You could spend a lifetime searching for the perfect blossom and it would not be a wasted life." No one ever said WHERE you had to start your search.

It's how me and my husband met - so I'd say yeah! I didn't meet him on a dating site though, my sister actually met him on literati (yahoo scrabble) and told me I should talk to him - the rest is history.
