Again we had a major overpass collapse sending tons of cement to the cars underneath. 5 people were instantly crushed to death under the rubble and those that were driving on it when it fell are alive but in serious condition. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061001/ap_on_re_ca/canada_overpass_collapse_12;_ylt=A0geunLK2yNF3k4A9Cr2FAx

When they finally cleared the rubble away after 5+ hours, they found the vans; the height of them was from the ground to your knee, compressed to that size with once living people inside. Their insides must have exploded with the impact. The scenes are quite unnerving

Cars continued to drive but fly off because they weren't paying attention.

Do you TRUELY grasp the concept that your life could be over like that?

I'm not talking about heaven and that. I'm talking about your own mortality, life here on earth with your firends and family. Do you realise how quickly your life could change if YOU lost someone randomly like that?

I'm completely aware of it, having lost loved ones due to tragic, unexpected circumstances. I have also faced such adversities, and through good luck I am still here to tell it. I realize that any moment could be my last, and as a parent I realize this also applies to my kids. We try to make the most of each day, and appreciate the time we have.

I am very aware of my own mortality. That's why I refuse to live my life on a what if. Don't get me wrong, I'm a firm believer in the whole, him or me, self defense, survival of the fittest thing but I'm not going to shelter myself from the world just because I MIGHT be in an accident or get hit by a car while walking the dog or whatever. There are way too many "what ifs" in the world to worry about but that doesn't mean I'm not going to be cautious.

Yes I truly grasp my mortality. A lot has happened to me personally to drive the concept home to me. The last time was during the time Katrina raged upon my community. A lot of us didn't make it out alive. But more of us did. After the wind died down I was giddy to be alive and devastated that others weren't.

Live life bravely and fully, it's the only way to do it.

Oh yes, totally. In my time, I have been kidnapped and shot twice in the head at point blank range, I have been at sea in a 40' boat in a Hurricane (that was not one of my better cruises), I have been robbed, tied up and lain face down in my living room with a gun being ****** to my head....Have I been there. YES!
I try to live every hour as if it is my last, for it could well be.

Truly tragic. Pray that these people who are fighting for the life or the injured one would recover soon.

Life is short, a lot of my friends' parent (in their 70's onwards) are dying around us. My wife is having medical probelm too. At such time we cling to Jesus & His promise that death is just a transition. I think having any form of faith really helps to pull through in time of lost. Mine just happen to be Jesus.

Hope you find Him too, God bless & peace, man

Sounds pretty gruesome. Sure I can see myself dying in that way. Death is inevitable so why stress about it. It's a good thing that evolution has equipped us with the ability to go into shock, when your in shock you are in very little pain.

Cars did not drive off because they weren't paying attention . They were just going too fast to stop in time. And that is old news.
By the way, Quebec highways are generally almost as bad as American highways, so it was actually no big shock to most Canadians.

That is why it is so important to let our loved ones know how we feel everyday. Cherish the earth and all life on it. Thoughtful question from a very thoughtful woman.

Yes, which is why I don't waste my time praying and sitting in a church singing songs to imaginary beings.
