Genealogy.com, Ancestry, com, but you have to pay for a membership. You can sign up for their newsletters and you can post questions on their websites. You can buy a program called"Family Treemaker". You will need to go to the U.S Census which is located on some of these sites. The Church of The Latter Day Saints (Mormon Church) has the largest database of genealogy info and it's free. Just Google "The Church of.. etc. for their website.Go to you local library to see if they have a genealogy section to help you get started on your search. If that doesn't work, find a state University library and use their services. Both libraries will have a free genealogy program for you to use. Finally, join a local genealogy group and they can help you with valuable search sites, tips and how to start your search.
Good Luck and bring a lot of spare change to the library to pay for copying your info. This is a good hobby, but be prepared, it's costly!
good

Hey ZaNy_kiDd,
Here are a few sites, this should help. To find your 2 Great Grandmothers name, get your 1st Greatgrandmothers or Great Grandfathers birth Certificate. See Vital Records site. You will need to order. Check the GENEALOGY section for the past few months also, there are literally hundreds of answers on your questions.
When I started doing Genealogy research, I took a course at a local library on Genealogy research. That will teach you about the types of records you can get information from, and how to get it. Libraries are great sources for Obituaries, and if there is one on your Great Grandmother/father (child of 2nd Great Grandmother), it will probably give her name. Yet another path to the same information.
You might try the GENFORUM, that far back you may have people interested in the same person - that happens a lot, especially with the explosion of Genealogy on the internet.

Well, Rust named MINE. I use myfamily.com. It's $20 a year to build a site with a family tree, chat room, message board, file cabinet, photo album, and even a place to put recipes. When you enter the info on your family, it automatically searches their records for matches to yours, and gives you a star rating. You don't have to pay extra to look at them, either, the way you have to do on ancestry.com. Oh, it also includes e-mail, obviously. I've found several family members through this, along with a LOT of info. I have no idea HOW many people I now have on there.
