Because the idiot libs feel that the illegal immigrants will like them for giving them free medical care, drivers licenses and allowing them to vote. We need a wall, moat, minefield and a dead zone along the border where we kill anything or anybody entering it.

The Berlin Wall was used as much to keep people out as it was to keep people in -it works both ways. It kept west Berliners in as well as East Berliners out. Think in your mind if they put a wall up in your town who would you be able to visit and who would you not be able to. Maybe your parents or children live on the other side. We need to come up with new ideas not old ones. We need to find a way to have all the people accounted for who are here but not citizens. We cant have illegal immigrants here but can open up and let more legal ones in. We can stop tearing apart families by deported parents of children who are citizens. We can work with the Mexican government to stop the illegal ones. You need to realize that the wall wont stop illegals it'll just make it harder.

I am going to commit the ultimate answers sin! I am going to answer you question with a question.
If we have not had a need for a wall or fence since the early 1800's when Texas and the Southwest became (forcibly and through purchase) a part of the United States, why is it such a big issue today?
Why do people fear so much the desire of others to be free? Is this not what we are in Iraq fighting the republican's war for? Is that not a war of freedom? At least that is what I think the government is selling it to the American people as.
So, on one hand we invade a sovereign nation using false evidence in the interest of FREEDOM and on the other hand we build a fence to keep out opressed people who simply want a shot at FREEDOM! Sure they are breaking the law (unless you believe in natural laws still). So what is wrong with USING the law to fix the problem? If anything a fence/wall on the border will do one thing. It will prove philosophers and psychologists are RIGHT by showing that people will do anything to gain freedom and the ability to have a better life.
It is a shame that pretty much the only nation in the WORLD founded on emigration and immigrants, is going to now become hippocritical and keep out emigrants and immigrants (if you must know the difference go to www.m-w.com and look it up!)
Also, the Berlin wall was AS MUCH to keep people OUT as to keep them IN! The Iron Curtain drawn across all of Europe to divide the opressed communist east from the free west served to keep out people and ideas that would damage the communists ideology! If you believe the wall in Berlin and the Iron Curtain were simply to keep people in, you are a true idiot!
The greatest threat to Communism was FREEDOM. Freedom of Ideas as well as freedom of movement and freedom of choice. The wall/curtain was designed to keep people out who would distort the communist thoughts and become a threat to communism.
I have one last thing to say. If you do research on immigration laws and find when the first ones were written and who they targeted it may open your eyes a little. The first immigration laws were focused on the UNDESIREABLES from Europe...namely Jews, Italians, and Irish. Do your research people...and always remember, there are people out there like me who do research on these areas that are always lurking, waiting for someone to make an error so we can correct their perceptions and cure their ignorance. I am not for illegal immigration but I don't think we are handling this problem the right way.

In reality the Berlin Wall was to keep the people from East Berlin, from crossing to West Berlin in East Germany. Berlin was a divided city, cut in half. One half belong to the communist and the other was being guarded by the American sector , British sector, and the french sector. Trust me, I was there in 1972 thru 1973 U.S. Army. I spent 1 1/2 years over there. You should ask to compare West Germany to East Germany the poor country. This is a better comparison.

I don't understand either. The Berlin Wall was built and divided a single city. It was basically built to keep people IN.
This wall is of a national security issue... and is being built to keep illegals and terrorists OUT.
Completely different.

What are the words on the Statue of Liberty ? Does anyone in America remember what they are? Are you now a nation fearful of everyone or the home of the brave? Is freedom and democracy only for a select few? Is it only fought for in oil rich countries? Why would you think that an "illegal immigrant" should not have hopes and dreams? Remember the Oklahoma bombing ? It was committed by home grown terrorists and I don't recall the country going on continual security alerts then .

i'm losing interest with elected individuals of america government comparing our immigration coverage to Nazi's and communist Soviet Union. First it became into the congressman who referred to as ICE and the Border Patrol the Gestapo Police. Now yet another congresswoman calling the border fence the Berlin Wall. If those individuals of congress strongly disagree with US immigration coverage, they'd desire to paintings to get the guidelines replaced, not call call. Why is it continually lawmakers with the final call Gutierrez and Sanchez complaining approximately immigation coverage. i think of their allegiences are to Mexico and not the U. S..

well, it draws attention by doing so, why they would want attention drawn to that i do not know, it would be easier and better for them to try to sweep the whole thing under the rug.
