DON'T wrap it in foil if cooking in the microwave! I'm sure you already know this, but just to be sure DON'T!!! Grilled chicken breast or steak goes well with it, or you could put stuff on it and make it a meal in itself. Broccoli and cheese is good or chili, cheese, onion and sour cream. The possibilities are endless. Just poke holes in it before you cook it. You can also get the ones that are microwave ready and have plastic wrap already on them in most grocery stores, just pop in the microwave and cook on high for 5 to 7 minutes. Easy and Delish!

Please do not wrap in foil! Instead, wash the potato and place in a Corningware dish with a glass lid (this will insure even cooking while retaining moisture). One medium sized potato will take about 6-7 min. When the time expires, test it with a fork. Cook longer if needed. Allow the potato to sit for a few minutes after cooking. Remove from glass dish, split open, add lots of margarine or butter, salt, pepper, cheese, bacon bits, sour cream, chopped green onion, or whatever else you like on your potato. Using this method, I have also peeled the potato before cooking, but you have to be very accurate on the cooking time to make sure that it doesn't overcook. As with any cooking - practice makes perfect. If you don't have a glass dish, a zip-loc bag with just the corner cracked open will suffice. Happy eating - I fix these at least twice a week.

all you do is get a potato and take a fork and poke it about 4 times in different places (doesn't matter where). Make sure that you poke it deep. Just stick it in the microwave for about 3 minutes, turn it a little, and then microwave it for about another 3 minutes. Times will vary depending on the size of the potato. But an average size potato takes about 6 minutes. And you can eat it with anything you'de like.

You can fix spelling errors using edit.

Poke several (not dozens) of holes in washed potato with a fork or knife (to let steam out, or it may EXPLODE all over the inside of the oven). Depends on your microwave, how powerful it is, but usually microwave one potato about 5 minutes, take out and wrap in foil for ten minutes. Eat just like you would from the oven. It is more moist, though, so I cook the potato for the 5 minutes for each potato and finish for about 15 minutes in hot oven.

Do not wrap it in tin foil if your doing it in the microwave as it will damage the microwave.
To cook it, put it on a microwavable plate and cook for about 15-20 mins for an average size potato. It's done when you can put a knife through it easily. Even better if you put it in a hot oven afterwars with a bit of oil on it to crisp the skin up. Then cut it open and cover it in butter and cheese and baked beans !

Microwaved baked potatoes are about the easiest thing in the world to prepare. Just wash the potato and put it in the nuke. The time depends on the size of the potato and the strength of your microwave. Try 5 minute intervals until the potato feels done.

As for what to eat with it, I like butter, sour cream, and cheese with a nice side salad.

Scrub your potato with a veggie brush. Dry off the potato with paper towel, take a fork or knife and pierce the potato a couple of times (this releases steam while in the microwave). Rub or brush the potato with olive oil and place on a microwave safe dish/plate.

Cook for about 11 minutes or so. Once done, I immediately place salt and pepper and butter on the bake potato and wrap it up in foil to keep it hot until I'm ready to eat it

That's it. Enjoy!.

DON'T WRAP IT IN FOIL!!! that would cause the microwave to explode...

pierce a hole to the top using a knife, place it in the microwave for about 5 minutes and when it's finished (you can test it by piercing it again with the knife to make sure it's cooked) cut the top of the potato in a cross and push the two ends up which will create a pocket and then you can fill it with butter, sour cream, shredded cheese and sprinkle with bacon bits.

it's great with ribs, baked or bbq chicken, corn on the cob and a side salad!

The BEST way to cook a potato in the microwave is to wash it, poke it a few times with a fork so the potato doesn't explode and then wrap in WAX PAPER. The wax paper will seal in the moistness. Cook for about 8 minutes in the microwave.

You didn't specify, what to eat with it or put on it?

As for what you should eat it with...steak is always a winner!

As for what you should put on it...shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream and bacon!
