Yes... HyperTensioN - worryingly high blood pressure. This can effect health in a number of ways - most seriously, the heart and causing death!
Reducing salt intake, lowering bodyweight through sensible eating and regular exercise and taking steps to reduce stress are all likely to help. If this information is not forthcoming from your GP, get another GP who knows how to do their job properly. Leaving a hypertensive patient in a state of worry and confusion is a pretty dumb idea.
Your friend needs to get some help addressing lifestyle changes - trying to do everything at once will be a massive strain on the system and can be as dangerous as doing nothing at all.
There are a number of groups who can help - start with the NHS website and try to get your friend to join a gym/ exercise class. Qualified instructors will help get started and can provide nuggets of information.
If your friend is NOT overweight, unhealthy and stressed, get the hell back to the doctors and demand further tests, because something is causing that hypertension. Average blood pressure is 120/80 and borderline hypertension begins at 140/90; so you can see why she should be concerned!!!

the blood pressure would be 215 over 139. not under. HTN would be a shortened version of hypertension- the medical name for high blood pressure.
Her low weight is probably the cause by putting stress on her body.

I had a very similar reading in my twenties for no reason at all. I was in town. Remember feeling dizzy and abit 'out of it'. Went into chemists to sit down and the pharmacist took my bp cos i looked abit ill. It was about 210 over 112, he contacted my doctor straight away and i was taken there, the reading by then had dropped to about 190/108. 20 mins later it was right back down and noone could explain the sudden massive rise like that. It never happened again, and the cause was never discovered. No harm was done it seems and I was otherwise healthy. How old is the patient? Are u sure the reading is correct? Please dont delay, call the emergency doctor or ambulance. And good luck. Hopefully it's just a blip.

The correct term is 215 over 139 and HTN is shorthand for hypertension, which means high blood pressure.
I suggest your friend looks at her lifestyle, looses weight, reduces salt and alcohol intake and if she is on the pill, come off it. She is at increased risk of a heart attack, regardless of how old she is. She should also have her cholesterol checked too.

That blood pressure is very high. She has hypertension which means her heart is having to work hard trying to move the blood around her body. The top figure is the maximum resistance the heart faces when it pushes blood into the arteries. The bottom figure is the amount of pressure being excerted when blood is not being pumped. The measure is in milimols of mercury. ie how much pressure is needed to push mercury up a glass chamber. She has many risks and needs to look at her diet, weight, and lifestyle factors.

That is just an abbreviation for Hypertension (high blood pressure)
Normal BP is about 120/80. I assume you mean 215/139 which is pretty high. It can be controlled with drugs and diet.

Hyper-tension. It means high blood pressure. 215 is quite high, but the 139 is most disturbing. It should be around 80-90 or so.

That is a very high, and very concerning blood pressure. Your friend needs to follow up with her family doctor as soon she possibly can.
High blood pressure can lead to stroke, heart attacks, poor circulation...lots of stuff. She needs to have that reevaluated.
