We have bought popcorn, cotton candy, candy of all types, chocolate covered strawberries, I just still want to remain creative so that our boys always look forward to our special night.

Here's an idea that I've recently tried with great success. Go out to the store and buy the "Baboli" personal sized pizza crusts. Pick out all sorts of ingrediants (cheese, pepperoni, mushrooms, etc..). Gather everyone up, each creating their own pizza. Now, the "topping on the cake," cook each one on your BBQ (if you have one). Throw in some hickory wood chips. Make sure you continuosly rotate the pizzas (on low heat). In about 15 minutes, enjoy your homemade, BBQ'd pizza party.

All of this depends on the age or the children of course.

Have theme night. Since it is October watch football (The Longest Yard or Any Given Sunday) or World Series (Angels in the Outfield or Major League) movies. Eat cold hot dogs and drink warm beer. Turn off the furnace, open the windows and watch the movies under blankets.

Do I need to give you Halloween ideas? Anything scary, wear costumes and eat candy until you get bellyaches.

Planes Trains and Automobiles is a great Thanksgiving movie.

Too many Christmas movie to name.

You can have New York or Chicago or LA theme nights.

New York: Almost anything by Woody Allen, eat deli food like pastrami and be really rude.

Chicago: Blues Brothers or The Untouchables, eat deep dish pizza and put out lawn chairs to keep neighbors from parking in front of your house.

LA: LA Confidential or Valley Girl, eat sushi (better yet binge and purge) and apply fake suntans.

I could go on and on.

All that matters is that you do something DIFFERENT. Don't eat the left overs. Even if you just go out and have a burger. Window shop at the mall, go bowling, anything that is different. Then if you wish, go home and curl up and start watching TV. While doing so cuddle and suggest something more. The important thing is that you make each other fell that the time is for the other.

what about playing a family game or going out somewhere? Some place you all want to go. Or have someone pick one month what they want to do and switch off.

How about making the movie yourselves and watching the results. I made a few music video length movies of my daughter and her friends skateboarding set to music. You can shoot it with your video camera and edit it with software like Sony Vegas.

You and your family can go swimming, actually go to the movies, depending on age you can take the boys to chucky cheese, or to an amusement park.

well with Fall in gear now, the nights are longer... you could all go out to bowling first and then come home and do the movie night thing...it sounds like fun to me.
