I am turning 40 on tomorrow and i have so much anxiety about it, I'm single and really have no one to share it with, I've been single for so long that I'm really starting to believe that I'll be single for a long time to come.I don't go out just BECAUSE i like more of the romantic type and there aren't any around. don't get me wrong I do have guy friends but they have girlfriends so that's not an option . Just need a few moments focused on me. (SERIOUS REPLYS REQUESTED)

Aging hits different women differently. When I turned 30, it was no big deal. When I turned 40 -- well let's just say I'm still not used to it and that was 5 years ago. I got a wild burr up my butt and acted like I was 12 for about 2 years. Sigh. Growing older is definitely not for sissies.
You definitely deserve someone who will focus on you for a bit. But keep in mind that you don't need a man to complete your life. You are a strong independent successful woman. Take pride in that. Pick something that you've always wanted to do - and tomorrow DO IT. Celebrate your life by LIVING it. Enjoy!

Somehow you have convinced yourself that being single at 40 is bad. You have probably validated this with external support from media, friends or just society. If you judge yourself on those standards, you are going to have a hard time meeting someone because you are not allowing your true self to show. What you need to do is take a step back before you can walk forward. You need to be happy with being single and drop the notion that you are incomplete without finding someone. You may not truly feel that way, but you need to be secure with your position in order to attract others because no one is attracted to someone that doesn’t like their life. Once you choose to be happy being single at 40, you will not only feel better but you will also radiate a little more to prospective dates.
It really is just a choice.

I don't think 40 is so bad I know plenty of people that are in their 40's and you wouldn't even know it. I'm 24 and half of them seem younger than most people my age. So cheer up life doesn't end because your turning 40 it's just be beginning so embrace it and be positive about it. You don't have to go to a club scene but try going to little lounges with a more mature crowd type of setting it could help find your Prince Charming or help him find you. You'll be alright. With your age comes wisdom and you know what you will and will not tolerate. Some day the right person will enter your life and it'll happen when you least expect it. I swore off dating and within one and half years of being single, I met someone and all those thoughts of not dating went flying out the window. And it happened when I wasn't even looking for someone to be with.

Happy Birthday - I too am turning 40 on 5th october- I have different fears - but yes it is all related to growing older. Just enjoy your day - they say life after 40 is amazing!

you will find that turning 40 is the most life changing experience you will ever have. you will find yourself more focused on what you want and have no bones about how to get there. if you have any kids they are probably at an age where they are pretty much on their own. trust me you will love it!
