I think I know what may be the problem. When you use the component input on a tv you have to set the channel to auxilary mode or scan through all of the input modes. It depends on what kind of tv you have and how many auxilary inputs you have. Basically your TV needs to know which input you are using since there is more than one option. On some TV's you will need to hit the down arrow below channel 0 and on some there is a mode button you can press. Good luck!

Good answer from the one above me. Also alot of dvd players do not come with the component inputs on. You actually have to go into the menu of the DVD player and turn on the component output. But yes try the input button or source button or video button on the TV/remote. That seems to always fix the issue.
PS component= Blue Green and Red

Are you sure you have component hook up? And not composite hook up. Both have three wires but different functions and hook up. Also does your TV have a hook up for component video?
Another problem could be in your DVD player. On some DVD players in the set up for video you have to tell it what type of signal you are using component or composite.

With the limited information you have given me, I am assuming that you have an old TV and a new DVD player. This assumption comes from this happening to me.
Ok, I ad a TV that I had purchased new in 1994 and it had all the RCA jacks in the back, but was not "tune-able". It seems that most TV back then were not designed with DVD players in mind, like they are now. Because of this, the TV wouldnt allow me to tune in the TV to the station I needed to watch the DVD. I could hear it, but that was about it. No matter what I did. So I had to buy a converter. They sell them at Walmart for like 15 bucks. You basically have to connect this in line with your cable box, and then plug your DVD player into it, and then your DVD player plays like it was a cable box. (Kind of like the old RF modulator switch box for the old Atari's and Nintendo's)
Thats it, that should be your fix. Hope it works

Check to see if your TV has an "Aux" or "Input" channel. Go all the way down to channel 1 and keep going down. I had the same problem with mine and it turns out I had it on the wrong channel. Go figure! Hope this helps!
