In any normal relationship either with a close friend, a husband
or a wife, the best and safest way is to be honest at all times.
But, the world we live in today is full of dishonest people who
don't care two hoots about it. And because of their sinful ways,
they can influence others to commit crimes which threatens
the very foundation of human spirit and noble values.
Thus, it is indeed a big test for those who believe and follow
the right path to good virtues. For those who ultimately
achieve it, they will live on forever as the shining examples of human struggle for noble values.

I feel respect is the best policy in a relationship. If you respect someone, then you will act in such a way as to never harm them. If that includes honesty, then so be it. Would you lie to someone you respected?
Respect means that you honor them as a person and for the position they hold. For example, I respect my father simply because he is my father, however, I also respect him as a person because he has earned it by loving and raising me.
I feel this can work in any type of relationship.

Yes I do believe honesty is the best policy -- it is the only way to build trust! When someone I know lies to me and I find out, I immediately distrust that person and question their integrity.

Yes.
Honesty and trust are the most important elements in a r/s.
However, if you have something you aren't sure to tell your partner, then wait for the right opportunity to do so. Honesty must come with the appropriate timing too.
