It will use less gas with it in use. It keeps the vehicle at a constant speed. Where you can't do that. Because of distractions etc.

speed control is supposed to make the vehicle go farther with less gas

it depends on where you set it between 55 and 65 is the best most fule effecent to run at so if you leave it some where in there then you would use less

no it doesnt.

if anything it uses less sine it stays a a steady speed

No, it actually uses less on a flat to mildly hilly area.

it should be using less because you are using a constant speed and is buring effeciently.
