DONT plead guilty. At least go with no-contest. As long as you can show proof of insurance showing you had coverage the day you got the ticket, they will dismiss the ticket. On the license plate, go with no contest and pay the fine.

About the proof of insurance. They law states that you must have proof at the time in question. So you would still have to plea guilty to that cause at the moment you couldnt produce verification. Its cut and dry! Just cause you have it doenst mean squat to them, they want to see it and check it on demand. Thats the law.
About tampering with the license plate you will loose too cause it is owned by the state. You are just "borrowing"it for a while. Also the law states that it has to be in plain site and without obstruction i.e. dark plate cover, in back window etc. If the cops cant see it or are having trouble they can get you for it. Thats why cars/trucks have the space allotted to afix the tag too.
So just plea guilty to both cases cause at the time you were guilty of both and you will probably receive PBJ (probation before judgement) and the judge will more than likely drop the fees or the tickets and then just make you pay court costs.

never never never plead guilty!!!!! Plead no contest. Take proof of insurance with you to court and most of the time they will drop the ticket. Most of the time if you just show up to court they will either drop the charges or lower the price of the tickets. At least that is how it is where I live. But don't plea guilty, they will rip you a new one. Good luck.

my husband was pulled over and didn't have his insurance card with him and the cop told him if he took his card into the place where you pay them that they would drop that charge. Did you do something to upset the officer??? Most cops are pretty good guys and don't sweat the small stuff like that.....they would give you a warning or just tell you to fix the plate and to show proof of insurance and it would all be dropped. You must of said or did something to make him mad. But since you had insurance i would explain in court that you just forgot your proof at home but did have it at the time you were pulled over and let them know that you have fixed your plates so they are more visable for the police. Chances are if you are nice in court and respectful they will let it all go!!

No contest and show your proof of insurance and explain about the license plate - AFTER you have fixed it.

Plead not guilty and take the proof with you to court. The judge may only have you pay the fine if you prove that you actually have the coverage.

Suggestion for next time...be nicer to the police officer.
My guess is that when the cop pulled you over, you were a pain in the a$$ to him/her. Therefore, he/she looked for violations in order to give you a citation.
Pay the fines and move on with your life, but think about being nicer next time.
