Has anyone else experienced this?
Frozen pizza seems to fill me up much faster than freshly made pizza. It seems like I can eat twice as much fresh pizza as frozen pizza.

What causes this? Preservatives?

Wow, great answers so far. I'll have trouble picking the winner.

My guess would be additives and preservatives. Thats their job, to fill you up.

The dough in a frozen pizza is a heavier thicker bread because the dough is allowed to rise then rolled back down for freezing purposes and shorter cooking time. Fresh pizza dough is allowed to rise to whatever preference your crust type is(assuming your eating at one of the larger franchise's)requiring less dough.

Sounds like empty calories to me - frozen pizza having more of it than fresh (and less nutritional value too). It's a plausible argument...

It depends upon the brand as compared where the place you get fresh pizza from.

Its pyschological. Maybe you seem to eat more because they arent as thick of pieces. I bet the weight of what you eat is the same. Plus when you are mentally satisfied with your food, you tend to eat your fill, instead of eating to get satisfied by taste or whatever.

i don't particularly care for frozen pizza (except for digiorno) so i don't know if i'm qualified to answer you. but i'd guess that because frozen pizzas are smaller and generally less tasty than delivery pizzas are, you mentally make an adjustment as to how much you can or should eat, especially if there are more than say three of you.

also, there's something tantalizing and appealing about being the first to get a piece of pizza out of the box... your choice of pieces! happy eating.
