Why do I cough every time I clean my inner ears with a Q-tip ?

It occurs every time I touch the inside of my ear canal

Your ears and throat are connected. You are probably sticking the q tip too far into your ear and it is irritating the area above your throat.

You should never stick anything in your ears - even a Q-tip.

Because your ears, nose and throat are connected, hence the connotation ENT, for ear, nose and throat doctor.
