Best Microscope for an 8 year old?

My daughter wants a microscope and slide set for her birthday. Any suggestions on what would be a good to purchase for her? I would like to keep the cost of the microscope under $100 and any additional slide set under $40. Thanks!

we found a great one in a kid's catalog. it hooks into a computer and so you can see the image on your screen. Digital Blue is the name. We bought slide sets from "Edmund Scientifics" catalog.

Also, have you see the cool books that feature many pages of images taken through microscopic lenses - photos of pollen, mites, sponges, etc? Very interesting.
