I would say 'really I thought that you were chatting me up' then if I was chatting you up do you want me to continue.

Just be honest if you are you are, hell yeah I liked the look of you and thought that I would talk to you to find out a bit more.

To all who asked, 'what is chatting up?'

It's an English expression, it's the conversation you hold with a prospective mate.

You see a girl you like, you go over and have a conversation leading to you asking for a date, that's what we Brits call 'chatting up'. (chat means talk)

What do all you Yanks and Aussies call it? Foreplay? lol
