"...when no plant of the field was yet in the earth and no herb of the field had yet sprung up--for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was no man to till the ground; but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground-- then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being."
Yes, the Bible does expressely state that Adam and Eve were the first humans. More specifically, that Adam was the first human.

Ge 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
This is when God created man - and Man was Created to fellowship with God and that is why God created man

Genesis 3:20 says Eve had to become the mother of all living. This tells us that there were definately no other women on earth.

The first line in the Bible...God created all the Heavens and the Earth. So God created human beings in his own image,In the Image of God he created them; male and female, He created them (1:27)

Didnt Adam have a first wife called Lilith in this God mytholygy. she was cast out for not submitting to him or something.. she flew off and became a vampire.
Something like that... i quite liked that idea...almost made religion interesting
Isaiah 34:14f
Wildcats shall meet with hyenas,
goat-demons shall call to each other;
there too Lilith shall repose,
and find a place to rest.
There shall the owl nest
and lay and hatch and brood in its shadow
(just incase someone says there is no mention of her in the bible)

Adams family was special because through his God would bring Christ into the world. If you want to believe there were others here along with Adam the Bible opens itself to that possibility... Jim

This is speculation on my part, but I think "Adam and "Eve" was just a broad description of the first men and the first women. I use the story of Cain and Abel as to back my theory because after Cain kills his brother and God cast him away, Cain is afraid that others may kill him thus God puts a mark on him. If he was afraid others may kill him, there had to be OTHERS to fear. But that is my theory.
