Don't give him anyhing but puppy food, thier little tummy's can't handle adult dog food. I always prefer puppy chow.. Don't forget to get him some puppy toys as well.. Puppy's like to chew

Get a good strong retractable leash for all those long walks your beagle will want...and I say retractable cause beagles like to wander and sniff instead of walking right beside you. Get a nice pillow that has a removable, washable cover as it may get dirty sometimes because beagles like to roll in smelly stuff sometimes. Get an ID tag to attach to the dog's collar that has your phone number and address engraved into it because if your Beagle ever accidentally gets loose he will run and run! Go to the pet store and look for a high quality food that is low in fat, has no sugar or salt added and no preservatives to keep your beagle slim...because beagles can have major weight problems! And if you did not realize all these things about beagles you'd better get to a book store and buy yourself an informative book on the breed too. And might I suggest some ear plugs for you too, because a baying beagle is very loud and pretty unstoppable! Just love that beagle to death cause they are great dogs and will smother you with affection too.

A crate to fit his side. Its a lot safer for you to crate train him, it keeps him out of trouble, and your stuff safe. He will hate it at first but both my dogs prefer to be crated when we are not home.
The Kong toys are wonderful. It keeps them busy and they make ones for puppies. Make sure to get lots of stuff for him to chew on and play with.
If you are going to buy potty pads to protect our floors buy the grass scented ones so you won't confuse your dog. This way he will always associate the scent of grass as where is to potty.
I have had my dogs on every food known to man, even the holistic foods. But i was not happy with the food until I found Royal Canin. They make two puppy foods for the two major growth stages of puppies. You can check out their website www.royalcanin.us. It is very informational in regard to dog care and feeding.
Good luck with your new puppy!

collar, leash, brush. food and water dishes. bedding -- a rug or blanket is fine. lots and lots of chew toys like rawhide bones so he doesn't chew his bedding or other things. high-quality dog food (nutro, eukanuba or other). Spend 30 to 60 min a day with him.
