Rinse your mouth with manatee slober....I know it sound grose but just hear me out...three times a day for two weeks. Then go back to the dentist. Your breath will be so toxic the dentist will not be able to get close enough to see if the gums are "puffy". Problem Solved.
Just call me the problem solver! :)

My dentist recommended using Colgate Total and Listerine and don't forget to floss daily.
PS: I don't know if there are any special ingredients in Colgate or Listerine. It may just have been his way of getting me to buy a certain product.

you need to brush more often than other people. Two to three times a day with mouthwash and floss. Brush your tongue too. It holds alot of bacteria that can infect your gums. If you don't do this eventually you'll lose your teeth.

Next time your dentist says this, ask what you can do about it. It's his job to help you straighten out problems in your mouth.
"Proper brushing, flossing, etc.," is not an adequate answer, because we don't know what else is going on in your mouth or your body or your life.

Instead of only flossing right before you go to the dentist, try flossing daily.

Get in the habit of flossing everyday and buy a sonic care toothbrush.

Use listerine to rinse your mouth after you brush your teeth. It tightens the gums.

You've gotten some reasonable advice here. However, speak to your dentist (who should have already given you instructions); we don't know your specific situation.

you might need to brush better, and if you have sensitive gums, there is toothpaste that is more gentle for that.
