The war in Iraq has become very complex. We went in for the wrong reasons, but we can't just abandon ship. We have to bring stability one way or another.

Also note: Islam is the largest growing religion in Austrailia and its happening rapidly especially among women (and no they aren't being forced).

I think that since we ( meaning all the country's that participated in the invasion of Iraq ) started this whole mess we have an obligation to clean up the mess we started. Part of the problem is the failure of the Bush/Blair admisistration to understand the history and mindset of the Arab world. These country's have a history of being invaded and occupied by the invading forces, they do not believe that we are only there for a short time and then we will leave without looting their country. Look at India, Egypt and the other countries that were invaded by the British. why do you think there are so many Egyptian treasures in museums around the world, they were sent there by the British and French who took turns stealing their treasures. During the world war some of these ancient temples that are thousands of years old were used to store gun powder which destroyed their paintings. many of them cannot ever be restored. The nose of the Spinyx was damaged by the French and the top of one of the pyramids was too. The other thing that you need to understand is that these people are not used to elections being held freely. When one group gets power they keep it and the other group is persecuted. It is not a system like the USA or your country that there is always another election a few years away. For these people if the wrong group gets into power there is no hope and they could be killed. For this reason they are willing to die for their cause. This is why there are suicide bombings between the Shiite and Sunni Muslims. What would we do in the USA if the Republicans started killing the Democrats after the last election?

They need to be dealt with but I think that trying to establish democracy there is futile. Our presence allows us to have bases in the middle east and be able to deal with other conflicts though.
If we were to leave and they had much of an infastructure they would be after us in a very few years..
It is a no win situation..

I think all countries that value freedom and peace from the terrorists should continue the fight in Iraq.
