You really cant, why do you feel like the dog should do this. As long as the dog is taking a leak then who cares how he does it. As the dog gets older he will most likely start doing it from time to time. My male dog doesnt always do it and sometimes he does.

I would never encourage a dog to lift his leg. Do you want him to lift his leg on everything when he takes a walk?

Why does this bother you? It is perfectly normal for a young male dog to not lift his leg. Does he criticize the way you pee? Leave him alone and let him do his business the way he wants to.

You really can't. My dog is almost 8 yrs, and did not start doing that until he was around 6 yrs. I think its better if they don't do it, makes less mess.
