Germany makes a lot of wine even though it isn't the first thing you would think of: http://www.winepage.de/
Beer is the first thing you would think of. Love the Heffwiesens (wheat beer) but they have way to much to even scratch the surface here. Pauliner, Bittburger are a few that come to mind. http://www.germanculture.com.ua/beer.htm has links to other sites. It is a pretty big topic and there isn't space for a whole book here.
German liquor I usually think of schnapps or brandy neither of which I am a big fan so I don't have a lot of info for you.

It's been 26 years since I've been there, but it seems every town has it's own brewery. and depending on the region, vineyards too.
Neff was made where i lived, Koenigsbrau, Dortmunder, the list goes on forever and the party never ends. Jagermeister of course, I enjoyed some of the rums there though i don't remember weather or not they were German or not. It certainly did not matter at the time ;>)

well, first of all, there is no "they". some drink beer, some drink wine, and others drink non-alcoholic drinks for lunch and dinner. by the way, not so many people would have alcohol in the noon for lunchtime, rather in the evening for dinner. as for breakfast, we drink coffee/cappuccino/latte macchiato (by the way, coffee is the most consumed beverage in germany, not beer), fewer people drink tea. only a sick alcoholic would have beer in the early morning. don´t fall for stereotypes, that would be stupid. we´re not as we are portrayed in your media and in hollywood movies.

Asbach is a good German brandy. Tastes best when cold.
