I recently installed a Blaupunkt deck in my girlfriends '87 Cadillac Fleetwood. The deck works, but the clock and the radio presets get reset everytime I start the car. What am I missing?

You hooked up your power source to the wrong 12V wire. You hooked up to 12V ignition wire, which on that car is the pink wire. You need to tap into the 12V constant wire which again, I believe is either yellow or red. To tell the difference all you need to do is probe the wire (whichever one). The 12V ignitoin wire (the one you don't want) will only have 12V readings when the key is turned to the run or accessory positon. The wire you need (12V constant) will have a 12V reading no matter where the key is positioned whether is be on run, accessory or in your pocket.

There could have been yet another twine to hook to the accessory characteristic of your motor vehicle to maintain the memory. This keeps power on your radio while the vehicle isn't on yet won't show you how to show it on except the secret's in the accessory or initiate place.

the yellow wire on your aftermarket is your memory wire-it has to be hooked into a constant 12v wire-if the factory harness does not have this-(some dont)you can wire it into your positive wire on your cigarette lighter-this is a constant hot wire and does not turn off-sounds like you got your wire hooked up to an acc circuit-(one that shuts off when you turn the key off)-hope this helps

connect the memory circuit to any hot 12 volt circuit that stays hot all the time.
