I think a cult is some sort of an organization with a belief system that centers upon the permanence and complete devotion of its members. I have always questioned my faith -- I'm supposed to, it's how you grow in it, or perhaps turn away from it! Look at a real, 100%-for-sure cult, and see if you can find out how many of its members (the ones who grew up in it) have left it. I would expect it to be far fewer than, say, a true religious organization like Catholicism or Lutheranism. Therein lies the difference.

Christianity is the religion that believes that Jesus was the Messiah predicted by the Old Testament. If these claims are false, than it is a cult and holds no truth or hope,as Paul said. If it is not false that Jesus was the Messiah, then it is a true religion. The Romans considered early Christians a Jewish sect, like the Pharisees or Sadducees, but history has shown that it is more than just a Jewish sect.
Most people today consider it a religion because it is so widely accepted. it would of been much more common for people to call it a cult when it was still just a few thousand Jews claiming that their Messiah had come.
If you want a definite answer, then no, Christianity is not a cult. Jesus was really the Messiah, and Christianity is based on the truth, not a lie. It is a true religion, not the corruption of a different religion like a cult is.

A religion is what a cult graduates to after it is sanctioned by some external political, secular, or military power. Christianity is widely known to have been considered a cult until Constantine came along. If ones reads the Old Testament, it is likely one could make the same case for Judaism before Kings. Certainly, non-biblical source material from that time sees the Jews as a cult.

Short version, a religion is a externally legitimized cult.

No. A cult does not allow contact with the outside world. Christianity does.

No, I feel that cult or no cult is all depend on you. if u have evil thought about it then it is a cult...it's all comes from you, your mind, your heart.

Christianity is a teaching which teaches the Cristians to be good and to stay away from evil and crime, to live in harmony between human regardless of race, language or religion ....

In fact if a religion teaches this, that religion is good!

You would think it would be classified as a cult instead of a religion, beause everytime you turn the pages of a history book, you see or read about how Christianity plays a factor in settlements or government. Trying to convert everyone who doesn't believe in Christianity results in WAR!!!!
