I will share the best kept secret to loose weight for about 30 dollars a month and that will help you loose not just 45 lbs of fat, but will help you gain healthy muscle so you can keep your new weight down. Tasty, simple AND easy. Ready?
Atkins, Cinch and every new miracle diet focus nowadays on what? Low carbs, High protein, and "safe calories". They will charge you 200 bucks for their 3-week suplements and you'll end up slimmer and broker than you'll ever be. What do Bodybuilders eat? High carbs, High protein, and "safe calories". They need the extra energy, but they still want to keep and grow all their muscle, which in reality helps them melt fat right off their bodies, even while eating 7000 calories a day. (I said safe, not low).
Now regular humans, (not bodybuilders and profesional athletes, etc). We don't need so much energy, but we do need some to keep sugar levels healthy and so we don't go into a "starving mode", which could stop you from loosing weight.
We all still need to exercise. As long as you move (walking, dancing, biking, whatever) you will loose weight. There's no substitute for it. It's free and if you do it right it'll make you thirsty, so drink lots of water.
As for a "diet" I have to say... veggies aren't your best friends in loosing weight. You could eat a pea a day and you'll still be fat, because of the reasons stated above. What you need is Protein and lots of it. Eating 50 pounds of meat, milk and eggs would probably kill you, not because of the protein, but because of the extra fat, cholesterol and stuff in them. Besides, having to prepare at least 3 meals a day is hard, specially if you're on a schedule, specially if you have to slice and dice celery sticks everyday for lunch.
Go to any vitamin store and buy 2 things: Vanilla Whey Protein Powder and a multi-vitamin. Drink the multi-vitamin once a day. Drink 2-3 protein shakes a day instead of a meal and if you feel like chewing something, then eat a banana, or carrot or any other veggy like that. This will make you full for a LONG time, and gradually you'll start getting hungry at shorter intervals, which is ok. Eat a healthy meal once or twice a day, as long as you do it before 8PM (or 3 hours before you go to sleep). And snack on popcorn, apples, oranges and things like that. This will make you feel full (but not bloated) all day, so your body will never get hungry, which will accelerate your metabolism, which will allow you to loose more weight.
A lot of people loose 8-10 lbs on the first week and about 1-2 lbs per week thereafter. The important thing is: they never feel hungry or deprived, so a "bad snack" isn't as tempting as before, and even if y ou have it, it doesn't throw your diet out of whack. Once your metabolism is boosted, you can get away with eating "real food" and still keep your weight down, which doesn't happen with "starving liquid diets" like slim fast.
I know it's a lot of info, but if you read it throughly, you'll see it makes sense why some places charge up to 200 bucks every 3 weeks for exaclty the same thing plus a booklet, a measuring tape and a mixing cup.

Note: I'm not a certified doctor and have to cover my a--, so consult a doctor before you start any diet program.
Also: If the shakes taste blah to you after a while, you can add different flavors to it by doing this:
Jello makes instant pudding in so many flavors, it's almost imposible to name them all. Get a few and mix about a tablespoon per serving of protein shake. Vanilla and Lemon tastes like keylime pie. Also, you can add real fruit to it and it will taste like a smoothie. the posibilities are yummy.
About pricing, I try the least expensive kind of high-grade protein I could find. It's called Precision Engineered and it's sold at vitamin world for about 15 bucks a giant 32 oz tub, which is about 41 servings. Plus, they usually have specials once a month for buy one get one half off, so I usually buy them then and get both vanilla and chocolate flavors. Not all protein shakes are the same, that's the one I've tried after messing around with brands and found it the smoothest and cleanest taste. (egg protein will taste like... EGGS, so get whey instead) If you're allergic to whey, try soy, but the taste is not as good.

Yes you can definitely lose 45 lbs in 6 months, I know because I did.
All you need to do is eat lots of fiber rich foods (oatmeal, papaya, vegetables), drink 10 glasses of water not iced tea, and exercise at least 30 minutes everyday.
I suggest you eat a small portion of your most favorite indulgence (cake, chocolate or ice cream) once a week just to satisfy your cravings.
As for exercise, you most certainly need not to apply for a gym membership, try finding an exercise buddy to swim, walk or jog with and switch between the traditional exercise routines to sports every once in a while so you won't get bored doing the same exercise every single day.
Don't forget to drink multivitamins, because if your digestive system is unhealthy, you're most likely to store fat rather than burn fat.
Good luck!
