i brought a phone to turkey with me from the uk which is blocked so it should work abroad although its on 3 network is there a code to make it work?

Speak to the 3 network. They didn't charge me anything when they unlocked mine. (I was on contract). Took 24 hours to get it sorted.

However, there might be a problem that I think the phone has to be in the UK before it can get changed over (i.e. attached to the UK network). Not sure you can unlock it, once you are already abroad.

Maybe buy a local sim card??

Any mobile phone comes to Turkey from abroad has to be registered. The only way to do is before entering the country, you have to go to the customs and tell them that you want to register it for using in Turkey. That is a precaution by the government for to stop the black market of mobile phones. They will ask you to present the invoice of the phone at the customs. I have bought a mobile from Dubai last year, used it for couple of months in Turkey and then it is blocked. I found out that I have to register it by presenting the invoice and have to pay %18 VAT. Good luck, it is quite painful.
P.S. It does not have anything to do with network.

you will need to call the service provider up, say to them ur going on holiday but need ur fone unlocking so it can work in other countries, they will charge u around £30.
