I have to wear my hair in a ponytail at work (McD's). My hair's not that long, so I have to wear it more mid-head than at the nape. There is one guy there that sometimes tugs it when he is behind me and makes comments about it being "cute" etc. I am nervous about complaining to our shift supervisor though. Have you ever had to put up with people tugging at your tail and any thoughts on what I should say or do?

Yes, it annoys me to have someone playing with my hair.
In your case, the guy is flirting with you. If you don't like him, or just want him to find another way to get your attention, then nicely ask him to stop. You don't have to say anything more than, "Would you please stop tugging on my hair?" If he doesn't, then ask him again, and let him know that it bothers you when he does it. If he still persists, then take it to the supervisor. Explain that you have asked him twice to stop, and he didn't. You don't need to make a big issue out of it, but it's up to managers to handle situations that arise between employees. If that doesn't help, then sigh and get over it. Unless you are willing to quit your job, there isn't much else you can do. Something as simple as this isn't worth the battle that it would take if three different conversations, two from you and one from the boss, didn't make an impact on the guy. He'd a dense moron, and all you can do is ignore him. Complaining extensively about him only makes you look bad, and the focus will be off of his behavior and on to yours.

God that brings back some memories, i had the same problem in high school boys constantly pulling my pony tail, pulling my clip out of my hair after spending 20 minutes b4 school trying to make it look perfect. It is sooooo annoying i can really relate. The only problem is i had to put up with it because no matter how loud i screamed or how many books i threw they continued to do it. So imagine my surprise when i bumped into one of the chief hair pullers two years later only to find out that for 4 years he'd had a major crush on me. Moral of the story the guy oviously fancies you and this is his sad way of trying to let you know. If you feel the same tell him, if not well tell him you dont. He'l soon get bored and find someone more willing to bug.Good luck!!!

Yes, it can be VERY annoying I worked at Chuck E Cheeses and had to deal with that and little kids it was hell!! .... but DO NOT punch him in the face. YOU WILL GET FIRED on the spot. I suggest putting your hair in a bun, if not and he and still does that then tell the manager. Also I would suggest applying at another job that gives more of a wage and less stress on you. Good luck

i hate it when someone touches my hair period...i cant stand it!....any way i guess u don't want to be too rude since u have to work with him, next time just tell him u don't really care to be touched that your not a touchy feely person & its not him its any one you just dont like it,say i hope i am not making u mad or hurting your feelings its just that it bothers me for people to touch me!....that should get the point across with out beind mean about it...if that doesnt work then u need to report him to your manager, once you give your notice for him to "back off" and he doesnt then he needs to have a reality check from the boss!

yes people do that to me all the time. i got used to it and now it dont bother me. i would say something to him first and if he keeps it up then i would tell your supervisor. for one thats against work code for him to touch ur hair and not wash his hands and you both could get into trouble if the wrong person saw that.

I think it's either passive agressive behavior or he's flirting with you. I would just man up and call him on it.
