3RD WORLD WAR IS ALREADY STARTED. IT IS GOING ON ITS INITIAL STAGE. IT MY TAKE DANGEROUS SHAPE ANY TIME. THIS WILL BE BETWEEN MUSLIM HARD CORES AND THE DEMOCRATIC FORCES. THE DEMOCRATIC FORCES FIGHT UNDER THE BANNER OF USA. THE MOST PROBABLY DEMOCRATIC FORCE WILL WIN THE WAR. THERE WILL BE NO END OF THE WORLD AS PER EXPECTATION.

One thing you have to remember is that the world was allot larger in WWI and WWII.
The Internet, the fact that world media is almost real time makes the world a much smaller place.
People right now from all over the globe, talk to each other more than ever before.
During WWI and WWII all we had to go on was government propaganda,it would take a very evil person to divide the world as it was in the two world wars.
I don't think the public would be divided enough to create another world war.

I have to agree with Roxanne.

We are in the very early stages of WW3. Years from now, historians will say it all started on 9/11.

This time however it will be fueled by religious hatred. It will be Muslim fundamentalists v Rest of the world. I'm sorry if that offends anyone. It is not my intention to do so. Its just the way I see it as the moment.

I think it will start off in the middle east involving Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Israel and Syria. The US and UK will try to step in as peacekeepers and will slowly and surely get drawn deeper and deeper in.
India is a close ally of the UK, but hates Pakistan. Kashmir will erupt into war (again) and then everyone else will try and get in on the action whilst everyone else is busy. North Korea for one.

Notice of all the countries I've mentioned, most have nuclear weapons, or will have very soon.

It's not going to be pretty.

It has already started. The "War on Terrorism" is WWIII. It is world-wide and will not end any time soon. It is a religious war, which means that until the human mind and will are controllable, there will be war. It would be naive of the U.S. to think that our power won't end. Every nation in history that gained immense power eventually lost it.

I do believe that there is going to be a third world war, it will lead to our end, and I strongly believe that that this world war is already in the early beginning stages (actually since 9/11) and it's really just a matter of time before things really hit the fan....Bless us all when that time comes!!!

You have been probably sleeping through the occurencies in the world politics. There is already a third world war, except we take deliberate concerted efforts to stop it. The current midlle east crisis can lead us anywhere to ultimate peace or complete destruction or annihilation of the whole world.

If the situation is allowed to deteriorate further, with increase in nuclear proliferation, more hostile countries getting access to nuclear weapons, we may have a far more complicated problem in our hands.

We already are in WW3. We violated international law by occupying Iraq. We are losing credibility with other countries based upon the snap decision by Bush. Go to BBC.com and read the stories. The news here is censored and we havent been told the whole truth by Washington for whatever the reason. Our soldiers have my prayers and thoughts with them 24/7, but I think our president has reacted to this situation like the cowboy he is, and now we are paying the price. Bush has his own agenda, and trust me, its not in the best interest of the American people. Rice, under Bush knew of the 9/11 attacks in August, and couldve prevented them, but instead dismissed the importance of pre-emptive action. Do we see Bush going to war with her?

No I think the chances of this at this point are very minimal. A third world war would involve one, two or three competing major powers with vassal countries allied to them. This would also involve competing political, ideological or territorial interests. This scenario would have been possible when the Soivet Union was a superpower competiting with the US, militarily, ideologically and politically (communism as opposed to capitalism) and territorially and economically ( a capitalist vs a socialist economy). THe US was allied to other countries in NATO while the Soviets had thier satellite states in the Warsaw Pact. In the event of a war, most countries worlwide would have been forced to support one or the other. As things stand now the Soviet Union no longer exists and there is no country now able to challenge US domination. China is close but not yet there. One issue which could spark war if China was able to take on the US would have been Taiwan, but as the two countries are not military equals, China will be satsified to talk but not act over this issue. There are other countries opposed to the US and the closest who could spark a broad war would be Iran and this would be over religious-political ideology. Maybe some moslem countries might join in such a war on the side of Iran but by and large most countries would remain neutral and this would not count as a World War. There can be war between opposing countries such as between Pakistan and India but both have nuclear weapons they wouldnt want to use and they are working towards peace. Another area of contention would be North and South Korea still technically at war. An attack on the South by the North would surely see a US intervention but unlike what happened with the First Korean war, I dont see China or Russia actively joining this war in support of the North Koreans. Russia is still weak economically and would not be able to fund a long war and broad war of this nature. They have enough trouble in Chechnya. China will not see it in its long term strategic and economic interest to directly oppose the US in such a war. They have the economic power but are not close enough on the miliatry side. Besides it might compromise them as they are gradually trying to buidl ties with the West to keep their economic momentum going. Both Russia and China might however make a big payday if any country engages the US in war by supplying weapons to the other side which would greatly boost their economy.
The greatest long term threat to the US in this time is China because of their rapid economic development and they will surely in the future set themselves up as an opposing military power to the US.

As long as there are still radical militant muslim terrorists roaming free in the world, the chances of a 3rd world war are better than EVER!

All leaders of the suppressed nations are just waiting for an excuse to go on fullscale. One wrong move is enough to trigger it. This war will be the last one and mostly it will erupt as Indo-Pak war.
