People are going to tell you to put all kinds of topical things on your scalp, but the truth is that it won't work half as well as changing the inside of your before the outside works better. You need to eat things that moisturize your skin, like high fatty foods. I'm talking about good fats though, like fish, nuts, olive oil. It's not hard to find healthy fats if you spend ten minutes researching them. You should drink a lot of water. Most people don't drink nearly enough. That eight glasses a day that people talk about really should be the minimum your get. I personally drink green, oolong, or herbal tea because I'm not a water fan. Eight glasses a day is half a gallon. I would say go with between half a gallon and a whole gallon every day. Don't expect it to work until you've been doing it for at least three or four weeks. Girls in Japan have been known to do this for the benefits it gives their skin. You should also look into supplements that moisturize your skin. Any omega oils are good. If you to a supplement store and ask them they can give you a whole list of things. To be honest what I've found works the best for skin problems (and believe me I've have a few) is a mix of carnitine and alpha lipoic acid. I've the best results when I could find one pill that has only these two things. I knew they sound kind of chemicaly, but really they're just extracts from things you probably eat everyday. This way you're just getting more of them. It doesn't matter what brand you get. Most of that stuff is all made by the same people anyways. More expensive here doesn't always mean better. You really something with at least 100 mg of alpha lipoic acid for it to have any noticeable effect. Also, oatmeal baths. It can help almost any skin problem short of cancer. Yes it can be very messy, but it's so helpful. I would suggest you maybe do it in the bathroom sink. You don't have to make it as thick as it you would if you were going to eat it. Look that up before you try it too. Other people might have some tips on how to make easier. Seriously though, water is your friend. It's free and you need it to live anyways. ;)

The Head and Shoulders works well and they have different remedies now.
Also try changing shampoos about once a month. I find that if I use the same one all the time the itching and dryness will start up again

Use Creme of Nature. It detangles, softens, and conditions your hair in one shot. If you wash your hair everyday, it can make your scalp very dry. Try washing it every 2 or 3 days and use some form of medicated hair grease (just once in between washings). (no it's not actual grease it just moisturizes your scalp, heals any sores, and nourishes any new growth.)
