why does anne robinson pick on the welsh?

I believe it was because she grew up in Liverpool and as a little girl spent a lot of her holidays in North Wales where they would all make sure they spoke Welsh around her and gave the impression they were all much better than her because they could speak Welsh and she could not and I seem to remember something about her them being very pleased with themselves about something
