How to make an R2D2 Birthday cake.

Buy a chocolate cake mix from your nearest icing shop. Make it up and cook in a small or medium sized pyrex pudding basin.
When the sponge is cooked take a sharp knife and carve off the curved sides leaving a tube shape with a dome top. Place on a silver cake board. Using a pastry brush, apply warmed apricot jam to the carved shape and cover with white marzipan. smooth down using wet hands and trim off the excess at the bottom. Take some white rolled out icing and cover over (the marzipan should be a bit damp so the icing sticks), again gently smoothing down with your hands. Trim the bottom with a knife and gently push in at the base so that it looks tidy. Get hold of a model of R2D2 or lots of pictures and when your shape is dry copy on details of R2D2 using edible felt tip pens (you can buy all the right colours in the icing shop)

And there you go, one home made Star Wars Cake and a very happy Nine year old who hopefully will appreciate his mums efforts!

i'd say just buy the stuff.. it'll be easier and faster especially if ur pressed for time.. it's this book called birthday express (they have a website to) and they have all types of themes and decor... if u dont' order from them u can get ideas of what u should get.. like the pinata, plates, napkins, candy bags, games, costumes, toys even a movie.. or why not get the original star wars trilogy.. the one where harrison ford and billy d williams stared in it...
