I've been on zoloft for about a year now, and I love it, however since i started taking it, i get these really intense dizzy spells totally out of the blue, about once a week. I told my doctor and she said that it was happening because i'm late taking my doses, but i'm not, i take it at the same time everyday. So, i'm wondering if anyone else has had the same thing happen to them.

I've been on Zoloft for about 8 years now and have been very happy with it. I do have minor dizzy spells, but it hasn't become a problem. Have they increased your dose recently? That could be one cause. Also, I think I experienced more dizziness at higher doses. Be very careful not to accidently take two doses - I did that once and had major dizziness. It's probably just a side effect that particularly affects you - but let the doctor know if it gets worse.

I agree with estelle.... i was too taking zoloft for awhile, it mad me go crazier then i started. I was on 3 different meds at the same time including zoloft. I did some bad things that almost ruined my marriage. My opinion of the whole depression, anxiety pills is do u really need it?? Try going off of them for awhile, while carefully watching yourself. After my experience i quit taking them. Reduced the stress in my life, and it seems like i don't need them anymore. Try making your life as simple as possible. Sometimes antidepressants are not the right thing, people use them as a quick fix, instead of trying to figure out why they feel the way they do. Sit back and look at the picture your in. Its hard to see what is really going on when u are in the picture. Talk with friends, ur significant other...maybe even a councelor if needed. I wish you luck hun. I know depression isn't anything to mess around with. But almost killing urself using meds isn't good either (my experience).

Watch yourself hun...and take care....what seems bad today, will be a thing of the past. Take a day at a time :)

I started taking it 2 weeks ago for panic attacks. I had been on welbutrin and loved it, but it just wasn't working anymore. Anyway, the 1st couple of days that I took it, it just absolutely knocked me out. It was like I had taken a Xanax instead of my Zoloft. Are you taking it at night before you go to bed? That's what I have started doing and seems to have helped so far. I am still waiting to see what happens! Good luck!

Zoloft can cause hypotension (low blood pressure). That may be the cause of your dizziness. If it is happening most often when you are changing positions, i.e. standing up, your BP may be the cause. The withdrawal route doesn't fly, unless you are on a monster dose (200gm). If your late an hour or two shouldn't be that significant. Trying to nail it down may be hard as your BP fluctuates. Try checking it often and increase your fluids.

As with 2 other people... I was taking it and it made my depression worse. I stopped myself becuase my doctor wouldn't listen to me. I have been med free for 3 years now and doing better than i was when I was on meds... The same thing doesn't always work for everyone. If you are really worried about it see your doctor... if they won't help find another one that will actually listen to you... there are other meds out there that might work better than Zoloft... Godd luck!!

I have been on it for the past month and I am getting off of it. One reason, it didn't help my sleeping at all, infact it made it worse. I did get some dizzy spells and felt like I was shaking as well. My mother did the same thing and we were both on 50mg day. Since then we have both move down to 25mg.

I was only on zoloft for a few months and I had to stop taking it because it increased my panic attacks, gave me nausea, and muscle cramps. Not everyone can take the same medication, if your doctor is not cooperating with you maybe you should find another one.

I was on zoloft when I was in high school. It made me feel better but I started having the problems you are describing. You need to get it changed asap! Zoloft can cause heart problems and cause strokes.
