It's so easy to make fun of the Amish, I know that I have in the past. They shun lots of modern conveniences and are simple, hardworking people who make no attempt to fit into modern life. This morning I saw a news report, and all the Amish from that area are saying the same thing - "We have to forgive what happened and move on. If we have hatred in our heart, we will not be living up to our faith." Wouldn't it be easier for them to be bitter and vengeful? Could you be so forgiving if someone did something like that in your community, to people that you knew and loved?

I have always had a deep respect for the Amish. Although in a way their beliefs seem backwards, they are very devout and upright people. It is a shame that violence on this scale can affect even our most peaceful citizens. I knew how their community would react to the situation, however I still believe they are people, and like us all this will be a trying and difficult time for them as well. My heart goes out to them and the families. I hope there are always people around like the Amish to continually remind of what true humility is.

most people probably didn't learn anything from the Amish. It will probably get worse in our schools. in modern society today people aren't taught to forgive and forget anything. They want to be vengeful and get back at one another. the worst part about it. That shooting tour that community apart, it will never be the same. With the Media and police all around. it makes me sick to think something like that did happen. It will get worse.

The Amish of the community also were planning to send food and aid over to the family of the man. I hope many learn this kind of forgiveness. Amazing to me. I hope to learn and grow as well.

I think all are capable of hate and anger. It is how you choose to deal with things like this . The amish choose to deal with it in prayer and forgiveness . Could i forgive it ? No I dont think so . God is in the forgiving business not me . I would be so angry and mad . But since the perp is dead ,who can we be angry at? I understand most ppl deal with things differently.

What a classy group of people! I'm not sure I could be that forgiving if my children were involved. The rest of the world should take lessons from them!

Never to take guns to school!!It must've been so weird for them when all those cars and stuff were there!! We should learn a hell of a lot from them!! It would be hard for me to forgive them, but I'd have to!! Leting vengeance and a grudge grow in your heart aint nice!!

The past cannot be changed. One has two choices -- to leave the negative emotions with the past, or to carry them into the present and thus into the future.

Why keep the pain? Just let it go.

Hate destroys.
WE are commanded to forgive.
Its spiritual- Christ said vengence is mine.
He also said: If you love me obey me.

Forgiveness is tough- but you must or what nouishes your body-consumes it.
