I have neck pain and my muscles are always sore and stiff, especially in the morning. I bought one of those Tony Little micro something or other pillows, I am very disappointed in it and I spent 40 bucks! Do you know a store or brand with a good, firm, supportive pillow?

I love the soft ones but i also love to sleep on my side so i sleep with a firm and a soft! ;o) good luck!

Goose down, if youre not allergic, and make sure the thread count is over 1000. These type of pillows are sweet and will last a long time. Make sure you use 2 pillow covers to protect your expensive pillow. You will probably spend over $100 for a pillow like this but you get what you pay for. A pillow from WalMart, thats like buying a steak from Mcdonalds. Good luck.

This may be the same pillow you've already tried, if so, I apologise. What I finally found works for me is the Tempur-Pedic (TP) pillow. All the others I've tried regardless of material or density have all eventually compacted to the point where I've got to fold it in half or thirds to get enough bulk to support my head and neck. The TP pillow does not collapse or compact. The one thing I will say though is that it requires breaking in like a new pair of shoes. When I first had mine, I was waking up with so sore a neck I was sick to my stomach. So I used it for half the night and when I woke up in the middle of the night, I switched back to my old pillow. After a week or two of this "break-in" period, the pillow was great. You can get this material in a regular pillow shape, but the TP pillow has a "bolster" that fits into the curve of your neck. For people with big shoulders, like myself, this keeps your head from flopping over and kinking your neck.

Walmart does have over stuffed pillows which are great but I have found if you get a body pillow and fold it in 1/2 into a regular jumbo pillow case it works great on the the stiff neck.
I personally have feather pillows from Walmart, there are many different ones which I wasn't aware of... They have them for flat on back, side sleepers and even belly sleepers. These work great too.

Either way you can spend 1/2 of what you spent on that micro pillow and get twice the pillows and value.

As you can tell there are lots of pillows out there. I like a firm pillow as well. I tried the contour pillows and they let my head fall or sink into the pillow.

The pillow I found that works best for me came from Target (also at WalMart) is the Memory foam or Temper Pedic. You still have to find the right thickness and firmness for you as they come in various sorts.

Mine costs about 40 bucks and is 3 in thick with a firmness rating of 2 I think. I cant remember the firmness rating right now.

I have had it for about 6 months and it is the best pillow for me.

First, there are two positions, on the back is one height, on the side is another. You need two pillows.

Folded towels can work until you find the right ones.

Allergic reactions are a primary source of neck and shoulder pain, as detoxification processes utilize these areas. A sauna in the evening or a couple of weekly manual lymphatic drainage massages can help bring quick relief. Magnets can also give quick pain relief, for short-term use only.

Your allergen might be down, or, as in my case, synthetics. Try both. It does not have to be touching your skin to cause a reaction. You will be able to tell in a few minutes which is better for you.

Other sources of allergic reactions: eating too much, eating too late, drinking alcohol, smoking (anything), electrical devices near bed, going to bed too late, wireless devices operating at night, stress.

Do yoga and meditate on your breathing. It is possible to realign your body to function better. Never quit.

Good luck and sweet dreams,

I have an excellent pillow, it is supportive and in the middle there is a special indent where your head fits while all around it is a frame that is higher, and slightly raised support for your neck. This pillow was given to me by the Chiropractor who has treated me . It is called a chiropractic pillow. Since you have problems with the neck perhaps looking into Chiropractic care may be your answer. Core support pillow, and if you Google chiropractic pillow you will find it , the cost is about $27.00

i just bought 2 pillows from ikea yesterday!! they have a pretty impressive selection at ikea. i bought the Gosa Blinka medium queen. and my husband chose the Gosa daka high queen.

basically, there are 3 different degree of firmness that they sell : low, medium and high. all 3 can be made of different fillings, namely synthetic, cotton, down/ feather. also, they come in different sizes of course.

i was pretty impressed by the wide spectrum that's available in 1 store. the cheapest one is $5.99 and the most expensive one is $129.

i think neck pain and sore muscles cannot be solely caused by the wrong pillow. may be your matress? your posture? the sleeping time (too little or too long)? sometimes a pillow that's too firm or high would force your neck / head to a not so natural positionm and thus make you not comfortable. that's why the memory foam pillow is rated so highly b/c it comforms to your posture instead of the other way around.

There is a pillow out, that is like a bean bag pillow, you can lay it flat and it will form to your neck and head.
I think I got mine at Walmart.
Also I look for soft pillows not stiff pillows that lift your head up and don't soften up over time.
I think I spent about twenty dollars on my favorite pillow and I have had it for years.
I won't spend over that for a pillow, because you aren't suppose to keep them for ever, you are suppose to get new ones every year or so.
Remember pillows are like everything else, they get bugs and can't be throughly cleaned to keep more then a couple of years. Its the things you can't see that are gross.lol
good luck
Now you can use the forty dollar pillow for quests.
