Put the wedding ring on first (closest to your wrist). Then put on the engagement ring. This is the way it's "supposed" to be worn, so that the wedding ring is closest to your heart.
But for practical reasons you might want to wear them the other way. There's nothing wrong with that, but expect some people to point out that you're wearing them backward.

Your wedding band should be put on first so it is closest to your heart. Then your engagment ring. However, on your wedding day, when you exchange rings with your husband, he will put the band on in front of the engagement ring because you will already have the engagment ring on. Once the ceremony is over, make the switch!

I guess it just depends on what's comfortable. I wear my band on my left hand, and the engagement ring on my right.
When I wore my grandma's set, the band was closest to the wrist, because the other part curled around it and the other way would have been uncomfortable. I've never really thought about it!
