Ask yourself, what are u afraid of?
Sometimes, assumptions and imaginations can hurt more than anything. Stick to the reality and assess the current situation.
You mentioned he is great. He must have behaved or did something to your liking. That in itself is a positive trait.
I love this saying : "Don't let any trouble troubles you, unless it troubles you."

Why are you afraid of getting hurt? Does he have a track record of hurting you in the past? Have you been hurt by someone else in the past? If he's a great guy, give him the chance and open up to him, provided he's showing interest of course. You may get hurt, and that's life (sad but true), but you may not get hurt and that's the reward from risking yourself like that. It's like everything in life, you can't always play it safe, because nothing ever changes that way.

its fine to be a little bit afraid of getting hurt.
Just don't let the fear make you too cynical about men, or totally afraid to do things that your heart really wants to.
Go slowly, take your time.. and if he's a great guy I'm sure he'll be sensitive to your feelings.

well, you have to accept the fact that if there is cure, there is hurt in this world and that's what the challenge of life is to accept both good and bad, happiness n sorrow and the person who take the risk is the real winner, whether you actual get him or not but you tried and everything and every person in life teaches you something and that becomes your experience which you use it for you better in future,so go ahead and live a life instead of being hesitant and scared....face the life and be a true winner, good luck!!

Then let your heart feel what if feels. I think everyone should take a risk, and love is a big risk. At least you can say that for once in your life, your one of the lucky ones to have a great guy. At least your not complaining

If you never get involved because you're afraid of getting hurt, you'll live a lonely life. On the other hand, be aware of signs and signals before you dive in.

I am just like you. My man is great but I've been hurt, but who hasn't. JUST LET GO and let things happen. You can't control someone else hurting you or not. If they do it, they do it! Be happy now with him and get to know him, then the trust will come in to play itself later.

Get over it... Take things one day at a time. If he's a great guy, drop that guard wall, and open yourself to him... Good guys are hard to come by. So if you have one, don't be defensive. Just be you, so he can know you, and love you.
