I think Ella will age better. Ellie sounds like a little girl no older than 13. Maybe call her Ellie until she's older then switch to Ella.

Ella is a beautiful name. Was on my list for girls names. In the end I chose Aimee-Louise. I really suits her. Im afraid Ellie just reminds of Ellie the Elephant.

Ellie does sound type of infantile, while Ella is extra individual and professional sounding. yet having suggested that, you could continually stay said as Ellie through close friends and relations, and in simple terms go through Ella at paintings.

I think as far as the child growing up, I would choose Ella. And that way, you could call her Ellie for short as a child, but have her actual name be Ella, so she can use that as an adult.

I'm going to be honest - when I think of the names Elli or Ella - I think of a really fat girl/woman. I wouldn't name a baby that!
