So all my friends are going to see the Killers on Nov 27th but I couldn't get a ticket.

I decided to check on Gumtree..... Someone had tickets but they were asking £70 each... after deciding that I would remember the concert for longer than I would remember the £70 I sent him an e-mail and he sent me his bank details.

I transferred the money and he said when he got it he would post the ticket special delivery. 5 working days later, when the money should have cleared he informs me that there is no money there.... I asked him to double check the details he sent me but no response for a few days now.... the money has cleared my account and I can't get it back. Maybe he'll get back to me in a few days but I doubt it...

I have his first and surname, e-mail and bank details... what can I do? I don't fancy putting this down to experience and letting him get away with ripping me off....

I don't know what Gumtree is, but if it is like e-bay you could report the seller. Perhaps they have some sort of conflict department you could contact.

I would go to your bank and discuss the matter with them. However, there is really nothing you CAN do without contacting a lawyer, unless you paid by credit card. In that case you would have fraud protection and they would contact him and make him prove he sent the ticket or pay you back.

In future get his phone number and home address, use a credit card or paypal, something that can be traced. For now, continue to e-mail him requesting the tracking number on the package.

Contact your bank first and see what they can do, then speak to the Police. Its just not right for people to do this.

ask your bank to put a payment trace on the transfer, (they can do this dont let them fob you off) and then you will have definite proof, then go to the police
