yes i have 2 and they are full breeds the original staff was a mix between a ball dog and a terrier because of the ball dog being short that's why you get the short legged version there is also a king staff they bread with the short legged one so down the years you have got short or long legged which is really classed as a king staff..............
and i have kc reg papers to prove it.. there pedigree goes back years its along as your arm,, my male is actually a blue...

Some breeders stick to the short legged staff and others long legged. I have always had the long legged staff. Dont be put off with what people say. If you want to show your dog then stick to the judges who like the long leg. If just a family pet what the hell. If you want to breed chose a sire with short legs.

She could be an American Staff, or as you say just a long legged Staff. I had a black and white one and he had long legs too. Doesn't mean it's not a full Staff though if it's got the features and characteristics of one.

According to the AKC these are the standards:

Staffordshire Bull Terrier: 14-16 inches at withers
American Staffordshire Terrier: 17-18 inches at withers

Having a purebred staff (whether it is the bull terrier or the american staff) that is taller is not a disqualification, just a fault. So it doesn't mean it's not pure, just that it would lose points if you showed it. But for a family pet, who cares? Out of curiousity, how tall is she?

yes, it's not a different breed or anything like that, it's just some breeders don't choose there breeding stock very well, staffs should not have long legs, i believe you'll find it's a fault in the kennel club breed guide lines, but not to worry he will still make a lovely pet, not everyone is perfect.

best asvice i can give you DONT LISTEN TO ANYONE ELSE!!! i too have 3yr old a long legged staff male (we should get them together lol) and i have problems with stupid people, he is a pedigree staff but you get loads of sly remarks like he is a pit bull or half pit bull because he is not the usual staff shape he is more muscular and has long legs, he is so muscular because he goes out for two hours everyday he has joint problems so i have to keep him strong. you will get the odd remark about her not being a proper staff just ignor they are just jelous i think long legged staffs are much more attractive and i wanted one with long legs. i bet she is beautiful, and no matter what remarks you get about her she will always be beautiful!!!! You know what she is!!! just tell them to PI*S OFF x

p.s anyone saying that your dog cant be pure bred is wrong i have papers for mine!!!!!!!

i used to be a breed staffordshire bulll terriers and the ***** i had came from staffies that were tiny, she had puppies from a dog that was bigger than her and i kept her son and he was quite long legged. If you have the kennel club papers you needn't worry.
