i don't think so, I think you only need insurance if you are actually cooking at a car boot like hot dogs and burgers

I can only speak for the USA laws.
If you sell any food, that YOU have made, you have to have a state board of health inspection of the kitchen.
If you sell anything in a business, you must have a federal tax id. number.
And in most states you will need to have a "food handlers certificate" meaning you went to a "health inspection/ handling food safely" class.
WHY the AMISH can sell without any of this is beyond me AND I have been in their kitchens... I will not be eating any of what they sell anytime soon... scary!!!

yes you do, selling cakes comes under the hygiene & food act. selling of food products especialy when home made must have the premisses preperation area inspected. I don't think it applies to stalls at private functions such as school feats
