you'll need to look for the nearest hud office or city offices, you should be able to find something in the phone book ... but realize it won't just happen, public housing has waiting lists, you may want to look into low cost housing until you can get a job and get back on your feet.

Most cities have public housing. Contact your local city department and ask for the number or call the info line. There is usually a waiting list of 30 to 90 days so be prepared for that.

Go to your local family services and ask about section 8 housing.
