Absolutely not.

I would make a distinction between religion and faith.

Religion (to my mind) would be any set of uninspected beliefs and rituals that are followed by rote. The religionist does things without having any idea WHY except that his/her family or culture has 'always' done them (which statement does not usually prove to be true if the beliefs ARE inspected). Religion borders on superstition. It is of some value, since it does provide a moral framework for living, but it also often provides excuses or loopholes which promote hypocrisy.

Faith, on the other hand, is based on personal experience and investigation. For faith to be real, it must involve a certain amount of reason, though some acts of faith may seem irrational to an outside observer. The person of faith has some insight into the WHY of his/her belief, into the mind of God, if you will.

Because of this, faith demands more of a person than religion. With religion, all you have to do is follow a set of rules. Flip the switch and the light comes on, but you don't have to understand the first thing about electricity. If, however, faith provides understanding, it also requires a higher level of morality. This does not preclude hypocrisy, but it does promote honest self-appraisal and an effort to avoid hypocrisy.

So I'd say you're on the right track, whatever specific religion you're referring to.

That really is a very important question. I have three children. I teach them from the Bible what I believe. However, there comes a time when they will have to make up their minds what they want to do. It has to become their "own" It is very important to examine your religion and the religion of your parents. It is vital to make sure that it goes along with what the onlly true God wants us to do.
I am going to include a link to an article that asks some very important questions about why you believe what you do. I hope you will take the time to read it.

Nope. Everyone is obligated to make sure that the religion THEY CHOOSE is correct. If people choose to blindly follow the faith of their ancestors, they may find themselves in big trouble with God later. Many religions were forced on people back in the days where the those who ruled the land had the right to set a national religion and the people HAD to convert or suffer grave consequences. So, to sum up, it isn't advisable to blindly follow the religion of your parents...you have to do the research and prove to yourself which one is the TRUE faith.

I think that everyone should study the religion they are in. They should read and study their holy book (whatever book that may be) and make decisions
My children must attend the church I go to, however, I press on them to study the bible, and if something is not in accordance with the bible, they need to pray and see where God leads them.
There have been many times I have had to go back after church and discuss what the preacher said........ and whether or not the bible agrees.

It's right only if the parents lead by example and not force. The Scripture teaches that parents are to "train up a child in the way it should go" so that when we grow up, we won't depart from the truth that was imparted to us and the parents will no longer be responsible for your spiritual teaching. After that point, a person is to "study to shew thyself approved unto God", not Mom and Dad! If it means moving on, then do so in the faith that what you're doing is ordained of God as the direction your life needs to go to please HIM, not man.

That is a decision in life that only you can make. Even if parents direct you. It is a decision you make on your heart and mind - not by anyone else for anyone else.
It Christianity it is a personal decision and personal relationship. - and you die alone ultimately. You are an individual and you can only decide as an individual not by or for anything or anyone else, because that would not be authentic.

It's best to be raised knowing a wide range of religious backgrounds, then making your own mind up. Yes, I was more influenced by my parent's faith in Christ, but had I decided otherwise they'd be dissapointed, but probably still support me. What it boils down to is that you end up making the decision, not them.

I think it's right to follow your own beliefs. Theirs was merely an introduction to religion. It's up to you to explore that and beyond until you find out what is that "you" believe.
