You are in college and those are supposed to be the best days of your life. That is really when you find yourself. You should be going out with your friends and not worrying about him. It sounds like he is the one with the issues, so no you should not sit around and wait for him to dump you, that is giving him the upper hand in the relationship. You need to sit back and think about if he really is the right one for you. You sound like you know what you want to do in life and he sounds like an ***. Don't ignore the changes. You just need your own space to do what you need to do. Chances are, he is not the right one for you. Sure you dated for three years, but was it a good three years? Good enough to let a man tell you what you can and can't do? You need to gather your strength and send him on his way. It will only get worse.

Love is the answer to everything. All you ever need is love,
communication and understanding. That's what I figured out so
far. If you are down, you need to get up and start doing something with
your life. Don't need to be shy, be straight forward and allways say what
you want and expect from the others.

you are and have been all along at different stages of maturity, girls always are more advanced emotionally than guys. Look at it as a stage he's going thru, like your kid being in the "terrible twos." If you can stand it and want to continue then by all means do, by being patient and continuing to work at the relationship.

I believe before any of these things happens to you, dumping him would be okay and this will solve all issues.
