I did the same thing. I have 1 artificial bird on it's perch and I put artificial ivy at the bottom and intertwined it between the wires. I also added mini white lights and brought the cord behind. You can add florals to go with the different seasons or holidays.

If you like house plants, put an ivy, or grape ivy in it so it'll grow and intertwine with the wires, it should take the shape of the cage, eventually, and put the birds on the outside of the cage. If you don't want a live plant, you can buy fake ivys at any hobby or department store.

I've seen people do the same with the bird cage. Using the two fake birds and having flowers stream down from the top where the handle is let them hang down the sides of the cage. It's very pretty.

You could try HGTV and search for "bird cage". There is a link below. There is a lot on there page. You can get ideas there. You should be able to find it. You can also go to the decorating tab at the top and click it. Then there is a huge list of possibilities. Good luck! Have fun!

it really is New Mexican type, it really is somewhat diverse than Southwest. we've brick flooring except contained in the bedrooms, with some Navajo section rugs over the bricks as accents. The brick flooring are in a herringbone trend. we've extreme ceilings, with vigas and latillas. lots of the rooms have kiva fireplaces. The mantles over the fireplaces are hand carved timber. the interior artwork is extremely blended, yet challenge type furnishings and human beings artwork from New Mexico, Mexico, South united statesa., interior of sight American or perhaps African. the variety, which will be difficult to appreciate devoid of googling the words, is amazingly sparkling, crisp and pretty a lot hassle-free, yet for the abundance of artwork and smooth fabrics. the exterior structure is adobe, with stucco over the adobe. The wall surrounding our the front backyard is made with straw bales coated by skill of stucco. we've a xeroscaped lot, with a bamboo fence and no grass, yet a lot of scrubs, interior of sight plant life, herbs and local trees. The landscaping criteria is low water use.

I've also seen them painted very nicely. First, scrub off the rust or old paint as best you can with a wire brush. Then go to the hardware store and get gold spray paint, or that paint that is made to look like aged patina (I don't remember what it's called). That will look very elegant with ivy in the cage.

I have one that I intertwined the wires with Ivy and put candles in it. Needless to say I can't burn the candles, just for looks.
