I have bought more then one from them and have sold them my car as well. My experience with have been pretty decent. My first transaction with them was when I sold them my car, without buying one from them in return. They made me a decent offer after looking at my car and I accepted it. As far as buying from them, I actually enjoy going there. The people there work on a quota system and it usually isn't that high. The sales employees get compensated based on per unit transaction rather then the price of the car sold. Their inventory is amazing too, if you like a car on-line which they don't have in stock at the location you are at, they will even have it shipped from the other location even if it is out of state. There car have been thoroughly inspected for damage and you can also buy extended warranty from them, just like any other dealership. The only thing I don't like about Carmax is the fact that there prices are a bit higher.

Carmax sucks... They ran my credit about 15 times and then gave me a lemon. The car had to back to the shop at least 4 times and it didn't pass inspection. They would fix it a little and then it would be back in the shop in about 3 days. I was so tired of the car I gave it back and went to a actual dealership. I will never go there again!

I have now bought 4 cars from Carmax. I love that I can surf them online. I always do that first and narrow it down to ten. I write down their stock numbers, go to the location, and look at the ten. I can usually winnow it to three from just looking. Then I drive the three and choose one. I get a cross-section of makes and models, the sales people are very low-key and non-pressuring (I don't think they work on commissions), financing is easy and quick, and they have all kinds of pre-sales checkpoints and post-sales guarantees that help protect you. When I bought my last one, it was 30 days unlimited guarantee, meaning if I found anything wrong within 30 days, they'd fix it. (I think they've scaled it back since then.) I will always buy from them.

It sucked ! My GTI's sun roof was not closing and when i went back to them just after 3 weeks of purchase. they said it was not covered. But they said they provide complete warranty when i bought it.Then they expalined that all though everything is covered the reason why the sunroof was not working is because the ballbearings on it are meeting. And so there was no coverage for ballbearings, that was VW's problem.Obviously i did not give up, i fought and i made them fix my problem. So if you are thinking about Carmax.Think twice.

they pretty much finance everyone though you have to put down so much than a normal dealership. however, the customer service is splendid and the salesmen do not pressure you or hassle you around the lot.
