The bites always occur at night, while I'm sleep.The itching starts the second thru the fifth day.The marks dry out but remain for a few weeks.

You need to go to an ER right now. This could be very serious. Many venomous spiders live in your area and some can be deadly. (Especially the Brown Recluse, if your still alive it probably isn't that, but still get it checked out ASAP) But yeah, if the influenza was in the last two days, most likely it is the bite, not a disease or the other way around. Also, since it probably happened at night, once you get it checked, clean your room and wash the sheets.

You have probally without a doubt been bitten by a spider since the neuro toxins take a while to necrotise the flesh it could take a couple of days for the results to manifest superficially. Other than this I couldn't tell, I would need to know the appearance and size of the bite and geographical location for speciation of the spider

Sounds like a spider...I still have a mark on my leg from a spider bite that I got last year.

Oh my god, sounds scary! Do you live in California or something because they have some really big spiders there. I may not be a spider because you said the marks were really big. Go see a doctor.
